Play Group Facilitator
Location: Dayspace | Co-Working Playspace (Boston)
Reports to: Operations Manager
Job Summary:
We are seeking a fun, energetic, and responsible individual to join our team as a Play Group Facilitator. In this role, you will facilitate structured playgroups, supervise children, and ensure a safe and engaging environment. Key Responsibilities:
Facilitate Play Groups: Lead structured activities and free play, ensuring children have opportunities for creativity, socialization, and development. Activities may include arts & crafts, storytelling, games, and educational play.
Supervise Children: Maintain a watchful eye over children age 1-7 to ensure their safety and well-being during playtime. Manage groups of children, ensuring they follow safety guidelines and group norms.
Promote Positive Behavior: Foster a positive and inclusive environment by modeling appropriate behavior and resolving conflicts among children in a calm and respectful manner.
Engage with Parents and Guardians: Greet parents and caregivers, answer questions, and provide updates on their child’s participation and progress in the playgroup.
Maintain Cleanliness and Organization: Ensure the play space is clean, safe, and organized. Help maintain the toys, equipment, and materials used during playtime.
Follow Safety Protocols: Adhere to company safety guidelines, emergency procedures, and all relevant health regulations. Monitor children for any signs of distress or health concerns.
Collaborate with Team: Work with other staff members to ensure smooth operation of the playspace. Communicate any issues or concerns promptly to the Operations Manager.
Qualifications:
Experience: Prior experience working with children, whether in a daycare, camp, or similar environment, is preferred but not required.
Skills:
o Strong interpersonal skills, with the ability to connect with children and parents.
o Creativity and problem-solving abilities to develop and facilitate engaging activities.
o Excellent communication skills and the ability to maintain a calm, positive demeanor in busy or challenging situations.
Attributes:
o Enthusiastic, patient, and empathetic personality.
o Ability to work as part of a team and independently when necessary.
o A commitment to safety and child development.
Physical Requirements: Ability to move freely and interact with children in an active play environment. Must be able to lift up to 25 lbs.
Preferred Qualifications:
Experience in child development, early education, or recreational programming.
First Aid and CPR certification (or willingness to obtain).
Background check clearance.
Hours: 15-20 hours per week. Mostly weekdays, must have availability on Tuesdays, Wednesday & Thursday mornings.
Compensation: $22-$25/hr, depending on experience
